Here are two oil paintings I did recently. I love knights, castles, swords and all things medieval, so you get a real taste of my world in these.

This is a knight from the time of Richard the Lionheart. He wears the king's coat of arms on his chest.
This oil painting is for sale from the artist. For price and details, email me at waitsel@waitsel.com

These were my models for the Red Knight painting. I used a black background to start out and switched to a white one when I began working on the sky.

Set-up for Red Knight painting. I sat on the floor to paint most of this. Photos on right are of painting and models. I alternated between painting from the models and painting from photos of the models.
This next painting is an imagined landscape that I composed from four different photographs.

Notice the contrast between sky and tree tops, with darker sky and lighter tree tops. This is a typical lighting effect in the mountains.

I love this type of sky - storm clouds with sunlight shining through, which typically takes place in late afternoon.

This is my favorite part of the painting. It reminds me of 19th Century American landscape painters.
These paintings are for sale, but I also do commissions. If you’d like to see more of my work, go to www.creativeillustrator.net or email me at waitsel@waitsel.com
